Energy Optimization (EO) is part of Michigan's “Clean, Renewable and Efficient Energy Act,” (Public Act 295), a state energy law that was signed into effect on October 6, 2008. The mandate requires all electric utilities to implement energy efficiency and renewable energy programs with a goal of helping consumers reduce their energy usage by encouraging participation in energy efficiency measures. All Michigan utility customers are assessed a surcharge on their bill that is used to offer education, programs and services designed to help you manage your usage.
