TWO MIDWEST ENERGY STUDENTS SELECTED FOR D.C. TOUR
(Cassopolis, MI) – Two area teens whose
parents are Midwest Energy Cooperative customers will tour Washington,
D.C. in June
as part of the Michigan delegation to the National Rural Electric
Cooperation Association Youth Tour.
Andrew Schultz, a junior at Mattawan High School, and Ryan Wolf,
a sophomore at Constantine High School, were selected for the all-expenses
paid tour after participating in the Michigan Teen Days event.
Teen Days is a three-day adventure designed to teach high school
students about electricity and rural electric cooperatives. Six
of Michigan’s electric cooperatives participate in the annual
event, held at the Kettunen 4-H Center in Tustin. Each cooperative
then selects students for the Washington trip.
The Youth Tour brings together about 1400 students representing
electric cooperatives from all over the United States. While in
Washington, students will meet with legislators and experience
first-hand many of the historical and cultural sites of the nation’s
capitol.
Schultz is the son of William and Denise Schultz of Mattawan. Wolf
is the son of Ryan and Linda Wolf of Constantine.
Midwest Energy Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility providing
electric and an assortment of energy-related programs and services
to more than 35,000 customers in 11 counties in southern Michigan
and northern Indiana and Ohio. Midwest Energy is the parent company
of Midwest Connections and Midwest Propane and has district offices
