7000 MIDWEST ENERGY CUSTOMERS WITHOUT POWER

(23 Dec 8 a.m.)

(Cassopolis, MI) – This morning’s wind storms have caused power outages for more than 7000 Midwest Energy Cooperative customers. Transmission has been lost to two substations and there are line and individual outages all over the southernmost part of the cooperative’s southwest Michigan service territory.

Crews are in the field working on restoration efforts. There is no estimation at this time as to when all service will be restored. Initial restoration work will focus on public safety and efforts that restore service to the largest numbers of customers first.

Customers are reminded to stay away from downed power lines, and contact the Midwest Energy Cooperative office at 1-800-492-5989 if a downed power line is spotted.

Midwest Energy Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility providing electric and an assortment of energy-related programs and services to more than 37,000 customers in 11 counties in southern Michigan and northern Indiana and Ohio.
