During periods of peak electric usage, load management programs allow us to reduce demand on our own system, which can ultimately reduce power supply costs. Load management programs are voluntary and provide incentives for those who choose to participate. Our programs include Interruptible Heating & Cooling, Interruptible Irrigation, Interruptible Water Heating, and Interruptible Whole House.

Contact our Customer Solutions Center to learn more about any of these programs.

If you have central air and/or a heat pump along with dependable Wi-Fi, you can join the Rush Hour Rewards load management program using a Nest® thermostat and receive two annual $25 account credits for allowing us to control heating and/or cooling during specific Rush Hours (i.e. times when demand for energy is high). Plus, if you purchase the thermostat through us, you’ll get instant rebates that could make the thermostat free.

You don’t have to do anything. Your Nest thermostat will do all the work for you, turning down heating or cooling to help save energy while still keeping you comfortable. Nest will not let it get too hot or cold, and you can change the temperature at any time, if need be.

Each energy rush hour will last up to four hours. There will be no more than one rush hour event a day, and there will never be more than three rush-hour events per week. You can participate in either summer, winter, or both.

We offer an irrigation load management program that provides you with a lower rate while allowing us to interrupt your service during times of peak usage. Load management may occur any time, including weekends and holidays. Typical control times are between 5-8 p.m., but may occur earlier or later if necessary. We will attempt to notify all irrigation accounts on load management by telephone on days we control. To sign up, please complete the form below.

50%
If you use a 50-gallon electric water heater, you may qualify for a $4 monthly credit on your electric bill when you participate in our Interruptible Water Heater Program. During periods of peak usage, we control the electricity to the heater and pass those savings on to you through the credit. Need a new water heater? Pay for it using your load management credit with just $125 out of pocket. We will apply the monthly load management credit to the cost of the water heater for 66 months.

Give us a call at 800.492.5989 for more information.

Save money and energy when you join our Interruptible Service Program. During periods of peak electric usage, we remotely interrupt your heating and/or air conditioning system through a secondary (i.e. an Internal Disconnected Collar (IDC)) meter.

Control periods are limited to a maximum of 400 hours per year and 800 hours per day.

For the duration of the control event, a back-up heating system should take over until the peak has passed and the primary system is permitted to return to service.

What’s the Benefit?

You get a reduced kWh charge (billed at .070214 cents per kWh vs. .07626 cents per kWh) and pay no distribution charge on your electric heat or qualified air conditioning for the entire time you are enrolled in the program – not just during control periods.
