FAQs

How much does it cost?
$5/mo. and we will ship it to you.

How do I order one?
Call us at 800.492.5989 during normal business hours.

I have my own router, can I use this mesh?
This mesh works exclusively with MEC’s router and managed Wi-Fi.

Will this work in my detached garage or shed?
The mesh requires a strong Wi-Fi signal and without one it will not connect to the router. So chances are, it’s not going to be able to connect from a detached building on your property.

Will there be speed loss when using the mesh unit?
The mesh can repeat up to the full Ultra speeds of 100Mbps and can repeat most of the Gig (1Gbps speed) but an Ethernet connection is best for the 1 Gbps speed.

INSTALLING YOUR MESH
  1. Place the mesh satellite in same room as your MEC Gigacenter Wi-Fi router and plug in the power cable. Wait for full boot sequence to complete, which will be indicated when the 2.4 GHz and the 5.0 GHz lights show solid green.
  2. Press and hold the WPS key on the Gigacenter Wi-Fi router to begin the sync process. The WPS will blink amber. Within 60 seconds, press and hold the WPS button on the mesh satellite. All four Wi-Fi backhaul lights begin to blink when sync is complete. The top Wi-Fi backhaul light should be red and all other lights except Ethernet should be green. The process can take several minutes and may run through a power cycle.
  3. Unplug and move the mesh unit to your desired location in your home.

Important note: Avoid placing the Mesh too close to the Wi-Fi router. If the signal strength indicator shows a red bar, the unit is too close to the router. Ideally the Wi-Fi backhaul lights should show 3 or 4 green LEDs. Lastly, if only the first one or two signal bars are lit, it indicates the mesh is too far from the router and the performance may be less than expected.

TROUBLESHOOTING

No backhaul lights are on.
The mesh has not successfully synced. Ensure that the mesh is in the same room as your router and repeat step 2 from the instructions.

The mesh only displays the power light and it is not green.
The mesh may be applying firmware updates. Wait 15 minutes and perform a power cycle by unplugging the mesh for 60 seconds and then plugging it back in.
