I have my own router, can I use this mesh?
This mesh works exclusively with MEC’s router and managed Wi-Fi.

Will this work in my detached garage or shed?
The mesh requires a strong Wi-Fi signal and without one it will not connect to the router. So chances are, it’s not going to be able to connect from a detached building on your property.

Will there be speed loss when using the mesh unit?
The mesh can repeat up to the full Ultra speeds of 100Mbps and can repeat most of the Gig (1Gbps speed) but an Ethernet connection is best for the 1 Gbps speed.

INSTALLING YOUR MESH
  1. Before you begin the sync process, plug the mesh unit into a power outlet that’s in the same room as the MEC-installed router and allow 15 minutes for the mesh to properly boot. Once the Wi-Fi 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz lights are solid green, you can start the sync.
  2. Press and hold the WPS button on the MEC-installed router for 7-10 seconds. When released, the WPS light will begin to blink amber.
  3. On the mesh unit, press the WPS button on the back of the device until the Wi-Fi Backhaul lights begin to blink green, then release the button.
  4. Allow 15 minutes for both devices to sync which may power cycle the esh multiple times. Unplug and move the mesh to the desired location in your house ensuring that you have 3-4 green Wi-Fi green backhaul lights.

Important note: Avoid placing the mesh too close to the Wi-Fi router. If the signal strength indicator shows a red bar, the unit is too close to the router. Ideally the Wi-Fi backhaul lights should show 3 or 4 green LEDs. Lastly, if only the first one or two signal bars are lit, it indicates the mesh is too far from the router and the performance may be less than expected.

TROUBLESHOOTING

No backhaul lights are on.
The mesh has not successfully synced. Ensure that the mesh is in the same room as your router and repeat step 2 from the instructions.

The mesh only displays the power light and it is not green.
The mesh may be applying firmware updates. Wait 15 minutes and perform a power cycle by unplugging the mesh for 60 seconds and then plugging it back in.
