We recently celebrated our 2000th fiber installation. In just over two short years, we’ve changed the rural experience for more than 2000 homes and businesses across southwest Michigan, and look forward to bringing new relevance and opportunity to other members across this region.

We know it’s a painful wait for those who remain in the loop; we hear it almost daily. Please remember that we are the electric cooperative working hard to bring this amazing service and experience to our unserved and underserved members. It’s a time- and labor-intensive process, and we are stepping up to serve where no one else is willing. Take hope in these words from Ken in Vicksburg, “The service was well worth the wait. My entire family is happy to access to the fiber optic system!  One of the few times a company’s hype was lived up to, and Midwest is to be commended.”

Here is the June/July construction update:

All construction is complete and members are being scheduled and/or hooked up daily in Calvin, Northwest Cassopolis, North Three Rivers, Schoolcraft (Woodbrook: we’re still working hard on the permitting issues), Southwest Edwardsburg/East Niles (Knollwood installs should begin in the third quarter), West Cassopolis/North Edwardsburg, and West-South Dowagiac. If you’re a new user in one of these zones, welcome to the rural broadband revolution!

East Vicksburg – North Mendon:  Installations are in progress in two of the four circuits; there’s light in the zone! Drop splicing is underway in the other two circuits, and we expect to begin home installs in July.

Keeler:  Construction continues; are you seeing our crews in the area? Splicing, service drops and drop splicing all will be underway over the summer, and we still expect to begin lighting up this northwest portion of our service territory in the third quarter.

Mottville: We continue to see a lot of new sign ups in this zone; the good folks of Mottville are eager and will begin seeing the light soon! Construction is complete and splicing and service drops are underway. Third quarter is just around the corner, and that’s when we’ll start scheduling your home installs!

Northeast Cassopolis: Walkout work is complete and construction is slated to begin in July. Still looking good for fourth quarter installs.
