Safety Programs

Team Midwest offers electric and propane safety programs for schools, churches, civic groups, emergency response teams and other groups and organizations. Programs are free, adaptable for various audiences and timelines, and can be conducted in your facility or ours. High school seniors whose families receive monthly service from Midwest Energy Cooperative, Midwest Propane and/or Midwest Connections at their primary residence are invited to apply for one of four $1000 college scholarships. Scholarship applications are available from January 1 through March 20, and awards are announced in April.

Selection for our 2017 scholarship is based on academic performance, extra-curricular activities, community involvement and/or employment, and honors and awards. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a four-point scale is required and an official transcript must be submitted for final approval. Every applicant must also submit a short video essay about their home community. Show and tell some little known facts or hidden gems. Your unique, creative, funny or even quirky perspective might just put $1000 towards your education! Please complete the application below. Strengthening Schools Grants

Today’s students are tomorrow’s business and community leaders, and Midwest Energy Cooperative supports the important work of regional teachers and schools with our Strengthening Schools Grant Program. Any teacher, administrator or school official in a public elementary, middle or high school serving students in the Midwest Energy Cooperative service territory may apply for a grant of up to $2,500 to support classroom needs and special projects, technology, or academic clubs and organizations. School districts may be awarded multiple grants, not to exceed a total of $5,000 during the annual award cycle. The program is provided in partnership with Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Youth Tour of Washington, DC is an all-expenses paid opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors. If your parents or guardians are members of Midwest Energy Cooperative, you’re eligible to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Youth Tour is held in June and is attended by thousands of students representing electric cooperatives from all over the country.
