2026 Electric Safety Contest Winners

A child's drawing of a mole wearing construction gear with the words "before you dig call 811."

Additional winners and honorable mentions are below.

MEC's free hotline demonstrations teach local fourth graders about the dangers of electricity. This year's demonstrations reached students in Blissfield, Decatur, Hartford, Hudson, Lawrence, Mattawan, and Morenci.

As part of the demonstrations, each student is asked to create a poster that illustrates something they learned. A winning poster is selected from each school district. The winners get a pizza party for their classroom, and their teachers receive a gift card for classroom supplies. Two overall winners, one from southwest Michigan and one from southeast Michigan, get their posters displayed on a billboard in their region.

MEC offers free electrical safety programs for any group or organization. Programs are adaptable for various audiences and timelines, and can be conducted at our facility or yours. For more information, please contact the community relations team at 800-492-5989 or pr@teammidwest.com.
