
(Cassopolis, MI) – Midwest Energy & Communications (MEC), in partnership with Southwestern Michigan College (SMC), will hold the third annual Fiber Cup esports video game tournament in southwest Michigan.
Date: November 8, 2025
Doors Open: 10 a.m.
Tournament Starts: 11 a.m.
Where: MEC Esports Arena at Southwestern Michigan College, Barbara Wood Building
Who: Esports teams of three high schoolers from across Michigan
What: Double-elimination Rocket League tournament for fun and prizes
Teams of three high schoolers will compete in a double-elimination bracket at SMC’s Barbara Wood Building. Teams can be school-affiliated, or players can sign up to compete with two friends. All teams must be formed prior to registering (we will not match teams up on the day of the tournament).
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams:
- Third – $50 gift card for each teammate
- Second – $100 gift card for each teammate
- Grand Prize – Steam Deck for each teammate
Any official school teams that place in the top three will also win a donation to their school.
SMC will award $1000 in scholarships based on student grades and skill levels. Scholarships will not be dependent on tournament placement.
Small giveaways and casual giveaways will be available for all attendees. Spectators are also encouraged to bring their own gaming devices (e.g., Nintendo Switches).
All players and spectators must RSVP by October 20, 2025. A maximum of 16 teams of three players will be able to compete. Admission will be on a first come, first served basis. Priority will be given to school teams. To ensure we have enough space and food for competitors, spectators will be waitlisted.

The space provides students with opportunities to compete in national esports championships, developing interpersonal and technical skills and setting them up for future success.
